This guide, updated for 2024, is a comprehensive guide for yachts planning to reach the Mediterranean through the inland waterways. The 138-page guide, is A4 size and full colour throughout. Edited by Gordon Knight with map illustrations by David Edwards-May (author of the Imray guide Inland Waterways of France), the new guide is aimed at owners of moderate draught yachts (drawing up to 1.8m). It contains all the information needed to embark on any of the four principal routes to the Med and the preparations needed to undertake them, including boat preparation; equipment; licences and documentation; sources of navigation and other information; practical aspects of boat handling and managing locks and even obtaining supplies en route. It also provides details of all mooring places along the routes, with comments upon facilities, depths, prices, nearby shops and restaurants and other attractions.
Available in both printed and downloadable PDF format, the guide incorporates over 100 hyperlinks to port, marina, boatyard and other websites for readers using the guide online. CA members can additionally benefit from further hyperlinks to the CA's proprietary CAptain's Mate app for the very latest updates on mooring locations. It will be updated annually via reports from CA members actively cruising the waterways, several hundred of which are submitted each year.
Also included is a 25% discount offer on first year's Cruising Association membership.
The guide is regularly updated (usually annually) using reports submitted by members of the CA's European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS) and incorporates numerous hyperlinks to a wealth of additional information. Non-members benefit from numerous hyperlinks in green to additional information on the internet, while CA members (who can download all EIWS guides for free) also benefit from further hyperlinks to the CA's award-winning app CAptain's Mate to obtain the most up to date information on mooring locations and navigational restrictions as it is posted.
If you would like a hard copy as well, all the guides can also be purchased in full colour A4 printed format from the print-on-demand publishers Lulu.
For information on the additional benefits (in addition to free PDF downloads of all the EIWS guides) available to members, please see EIWS webpage.
