This 92 page guide, A4 size, full colour throughout covers the hidden gems of the Dutch islands of the Waddenzee in the UNESCO World Heritage listed Wadden Sea to visit its 'other worldly' islands of Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog.
Their reputation for tricky navigation, changeable weather conditions and expanses of drying mudflats has tended in the past to deter many foreign boaters, even though Dutch boaters have been enjoying the unspoilt delights of the islands for decades.
Authored by Dutch CA members Machiel Lambooij and Remko Sinck, the guide is primarily aimed at motor boat owners and includes information on all the islands, their facilities and attractions; detailed routes to arrive there, both from the Standing Mast Route and the North Sea; navigation and weather planning tools to ensure a safe passage and advice on documentation and licence requirements. Available in both printed and online PDF form, it also includes dozens of useful hyperlinks and QR codes to access a wealth of additional information on the internet.
Also included is a 20% discount offer on first year's Cruising Association membership.
The guide is regularly updated (usually annually) using reports submitted by members of the CA's European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS) and incorporates numerous hyperlinks to a wealth of additional information. Non-members benefit from numerous hyperlinks in green to additional information on the internet, while CA members (who can download all EIWS guides for free) also benefit from further hyperlinks to the CA's award-winning app CAptain's Mate to obtain the most up to date information on mooring locations and navigational restrictions as it is posted.
If you would like a hard copy as well, all the guides can also be purchased in full colour A4 printed format from the print-on-demand publishers Lulu.
For information on the additional benefits (in addition to free PDF downloads of all the EIWS guides) available to members, please see EIWS webpage.
CA members can download a PDF of the guide for free from the members' pages of the CA website.
